IN MEMORIAM: ROBIN SWANSON

March 5, 2026

I attended the viewing and funeral of a former employee, Robin Swanson, on Friday. I first met Robin in her role as a loan closer at Wilmington Trust Company. When WTC changed its practice model, we hired her to assist in our closing department at Moore and Rutt. During the years she worked here, she was an integral part of our real estate department. Robin was always very pleasant but had a very wry sense of humor. She often had her co-workers in stitches. Even when she left Moore and Rutt to work at the Delaware State Police Credit Union , a job that more closely mirrored her job at WTC, she still kept in touch and would often be in our real estate office coordinating closings between our two offices. I also knew that she maintained friendships with friends made at Moore and Rutt but did not realize the depth of those relationships. I learned that a former employee, Kim, helped with the arrangements, and not only did she speak but also her son, who was obviously very close to Robin. I also learned of the "Ya Ya Sisterhood " with Robin and her former workmates. During the service I heard stories of vacations, Oscar viewing parties, dinners, and lunches from several of the Moore and Rutt team (Kim, Sally, Carol, and Regina). They had everyone laughing with fond memories of Robin. They made an otherwise sad occasion a true celebration of life. During the service I found myself not only remembering Robin but also very proud of the 11 current and former employees that were there to celebrate her life. It was also very clear that not only were they there for her family and friends that day but were there for Robin during her life. Hats off to all for being there, sharing your experiences with us, and being there for Robin in her life. I am very proud that our atmosphere is such that allowed friendships and relationships to flourish even in a work environment. As I reflect on those memories shared that day, a short verse comes to mind: We never lose the ones we love, For even tho they are gone, Within the hearts of those they love, Their memory lingers on. Those current and former employees there on Friday were: Nancy Greenwell, Bookkeeper, Ruth Scott, Title searcher, Dot Smith, Receptionist, Regina Conaway, Secretary, Kim Walker Pearce, Title Coordinator, Carol Williamson, Title Coordinator, Sally Daisey, Title Coordinator, Rachel Cherrix, Title Coordinator, Relanda Hall, Title Opening Processor, Sandy Knowles-Haasen, Secretary, Gabrielle Smullen, Title Coordinator
